Art Teaching Career

I am a Canadian artist living in Australia. I grew up in a small fishing/farming community outside of Vancouver, B.C. I had the privilege of learning from several great mentors as I grew up. I took 2 years of fine arts at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, focusing on painting, drawing and art history. In 2004 I began teaching classes out of my home to homeschool groups. Since then I have taught all over the Greater Vancouver Area, Saskatoon, Costa Rica, Colombia and now casually in Australia. My students include all ages and abilities from two years old to adults. I also enjoy doing private classes for students with special needs as well as teaching in care homes for residents with dementia. Any space works as a class room for me, community centers, schools, homes, and the great outdoors. (I do not have a formal teaching degree, just experience. I run my own business through word of mouth)

Teaching art has become such a rewarding adventure!! It's fantastic to see someone go from having no confidence in their skills to considering themselves an artist.

It is my experience and belief that everyone can learn to draw and paint!!!

Other Artistic Pursuits

Laser cutting into wood has become a side business. I hand draw images and laser cut them into wood for jewellery, brooches, buttons and personalized items for weddings and other occasions.

I love illustrating for CD artwork, books & personalized cards and selling and exhibiting my own pieces. An avenue I would like to get into is book illustrating.

I also enjoy participating in community events doing either charcoal portraits or art workshops.
